Add or Edit Custom Unit dialog box

This dialog box lets you add or edit a custom unit and set a scale for it. You also can define a secondary unit that is measured by your primary custom unit.

Unit Name

Type a name for the custom unit. If you also are defining secondary units for this unit, type a comma and the name of the secondary units.

Displayed Precision

From the list select the displayed precision for the custom unit you are defining.

Designer Units, Scale

Enter the number of custom units that equals one or more Real World Units.

For example, suppose you are creating a timing diagram in which you want to define a custom unit "milliseconds," where every 2 inches of your diagram represents 50 milliseconds. You would enter 50 in Designer Units Scale and 2 in Real World Units Scale (with "inches" as the real world unit type).

Designer Units, Label

Type the label that you want Designer to display for your custom unit.

Real World Units, Scale

Enter the number of units that the number of Designer Units equal.

Real World Units Label

Select the real world unit type.

Sub-Units Scale

Enter the number of sub-units that equals one of the Designer units.

For example, suppose you are creating a timing diagram in which you want to define a custom unit "milliseconds" and the secondary unit "microseconds," where every 2 inches of your diagram represents 50 milliseconds, and 1000 microseconds equals 1 millisecond. You would enter 50 in Designer Units Scale, 2 in Real World Units Scale (with "inches" as the real world unit type), and 1000 in Sub-Units Scale.

Secondary Unit Label

Type the label that you want Designer to display for dimension lines measured in the secondary custom unit.

Display Sub-Unit as a fraction

Check to display the measured units as fractions.

Denominator

Specify the denominator of displayed fractions.

Clear

Remove all Secondary Unit information.
